The Dance Cooperative with the Nir Family YMCA have announced the Fall Semester for Dance Classes. As part of our mission, the Dance Cooperative will not refuse anyone the opportunity to dance if they cannot pay tuition. If you or someone you know wants to take dance classes and needs financial support, email dancecooperative@gmail.com to find out how to apply for scholarship and register for classes.

The pandemic has affected the arts in significant ways. Perhaps most importantly, children all over the country missed out on after school activities, including arts education programs like dance classes. Scientists have reported the significant social and emotional benefits of arts education and physical activities and the positive impact on child brain development.

Many of our studio families are on some form of scholarship and also have faced additional financial stresses due to the pandemic. The Dance Cooperative is looking for individuals to serve on our Board fo Directors. This group of individuals meets to discuss the future of the Dance Cooperative, fundraising, grant writing, and additional ways the Dance Cooperative can fulfill it's mission to bring quality dance opportunities to individuals in the greater Wilmington area.

Our Mission
Report
The Dance Cooperative is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization committed to nurturing the dance community by providing affordable classes, rehearsal space and performance opportunities for those under-served artistically, culturally, and economically in the greater Wilmington area.
We are different from the current trends of dance studios in our approach dance.
We strive to build well-rounded artists without fostering competition among dancers in our classrooms.
Our goal is to expose the dancers to several styles and techniques and train them to find their strengths and individuality.

Report
The Dance Cooperative hosts a number of students on scholarships each year.
These students take ballet, modern, and jazz classes each week.
These classes are taught by professional dances, many of whom hold degrees in dance.
These students are given the opportunity to perform in our student show in the spring of each year.
As the number of scholarship students grow, so does our need for resources to continue offering this program.
We are reaching out to the community to help us continue the positive work we are dedicated to doing.
