Our roots on the Northshore have allowed us to foster thousands of aspiring performers in music, dance, and theater. We provide comprehensive ballet instruction for children, teens, and adults, emphasizing classical technique, posture, and creativity. Our progressive levelsfrom pre-ballet to Ballet IIIbuild technical strength and performance skills. Classes are taught by university-trained faculty with expertise in safe and effective ballet education. Flexible scheduling and year-round enrollment options are available both online and on campus. 
At LAAPA, our acting program provides weekly instruction for students of all experience levels. Classes emphasize essential acting techniques, including scene study, physical expression, and vocal delivery. With opportunities to perform in campus showcases and professional theaters, every student is given a role that suits their growth. Our experienced faculty fosters creativity and confidence through hands-on learning. 
Our Musical Theater program provides specialized training for those eager to develop their vocal and dance talents. Classes integrate jazz and Broadway-style dance with vocal technique and harmony practice. Each student benefits from small class environments and professional teachers, culminating in participation in mainstage musicals and showcases. The curriculum is designed to enhance creativity and confidence. 
From absolute beginners to seasoned pianists, our program welcomes everyone with a desire to learn and grow. Lessons are customized based on each students experience and interests, with flexible scheduling and multiple formats, including in-person and online. Our instructors are passionate educators trained at top music institutions. We ensure each student receives quality instruction and support throughout their journey. 
At LAAPA, violin students receive customized training through private or semi-private lessons in multiple genres, from classical to Celtic. We accept students as young as five and adjust our teaching approach based on age and skill level. Our curriculum blends Suzuki and traditional techniques and includes access to optional enrichment classes. Students can learn in-person or online, depending on their preference. 
We provide dynamic drum instruction tailored to individual needs, whether you're just starting or advancing your skills. Students engage in weekly private lessons that cover everything from grip techniques to ensemble performance. Our curriculum includes instruction in multiple genres such as jazz, rock, and Latin. Optional group enrichment labs support a broader performing arts education.

I wanted to take a moment to share my experience with the piano lessons I've been attending at the Mandeville LAAPA studio since January 2023. Under the guidance of my instructor, Kristin Anderson (since June 2024) my musical journey has continued to grow.
Kristin's unwavering patience and support have been instrumental in my learning process. No matter what piece I choose to tackle, she is always there to offer assistance and encouragement, making each lesson an enriching experience.

My son receives lessons for piano from Benjamin Hurst. He is able to make the lessons interesting through a wide range of music genre for my son. One day he is learning Beethoven and the next day he is learning the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song. My son hasn't left frustrated once about not understanding the piece he is covering. He is always excited to attend his lessons and show Ben how well he has progressed!

I was a student at LAAPA for about 10 years and took both piano and violin lessons. During my time there, I had multiple instructors, but Dr. Vera Zholondz-Koonz has made a lasting impact on me. For my last couple years at LAAPA, I took both piano and violin lessons with her. Her patience, welcoming nature, and passion to help her students was immediately evident. She has supported me in my abilities both musically and personally, and I can contribute her to how far I have come. Now Im in grad school, and I still go to my violin and piano to destress. I couldnt have done it without her! 5/5 stars for Dr. Vera!

Learning how to tap dance was a long time dream of mine (bucket list). The journey to finding an adult only tap class was long. When I found LAAPA offered an adult class, I became excited. From the moment I started, Bridget made me feel that I could do this. I had previous trauma from a fall, so I was hesitant on doing some the steps. Bridget took her time with, encouraged me, and applauded my successes (as well as the other adults in the class). You can feel the love and passion she has for the world of performing arts and for her students. She values our concerns and listens without judging. She is just a gem to have as a teacher.

Miss Kristin teaches my littles toddler music class and we enjoy it! We come home singing new songs each week and learn of new instruments with some of our favorite being the bamboo tongue and tone drum. My little enjoys making up lyrics to the tune of the songs introduced in the class. My little also loves the music machine, more commonly known as the piano, after she showed how the inside of it works! She is very patient with the kids and she gives parents the opportunity to participate. We love Miss Kristin!

My 8-year-old son has been attending LAAPA, and I truly cant say enough good things about this dance company. From day one, the experience has been nothing short of wonderful. The teachers are not only incredibly talented but also so patient, encouraging, and passionate about what they do. Theyve created such a positive and inspiring environment where my son feels supported and excited to learn. Its amazing to see his confidence and skills grow each week. My 6 year old son started drum lessons with Mr. James a few months ago. Each week he looks forward to his lesson to see what they will be learning next. Mr. James is very kind, patient and encouraging. Although its only been a few months I can see my sons growth as well as his passion for drums growing. Loving my adult dance classes with Allison! I started with Hip Hop and Contemporary about 6 weeks ago and loved that class so much I added Ballet. I love that its a real dance class with real skill development and see myself getting better each week. There are people of all ages and the instructor does a great job of teaching to all of our skill levels.

Wonderful school for all ages. As an adult beginner I was concerned when I started but everyone is so kind and helpful, I quickly got over it. I take piano and voice lessons with Carter who is just an absolute treasure of a human. Hes very knowledgeable, open to discussion to understand your goals, and willing to learn new songs himself if your tastes in music are a little quirky. 10/10 definitely recommend.

My 5-year-old has been taking piano lessons with Sean at Mandeville School of Music and Dance LAAPA for the past few months. We are so happy with Seans approach and enthusiasm when interacting with our son, and we are impressed with the progress our son has made in his time with Sean. Sean is patient, kind and encouraging and our son looks forward to his weekly lessons. I highly recommend Sean for anyone who wants to get his/her child started in piano lessons!

I started taking ballet classes (age 48) in September, 2019 with Desiree, and now with Brianna, and it has been an amazing experience. The school added an adult contemporary/modern class this fall, and my experience has become even better by having this additional class with Maddie. The teachers pay attention to detail and technique, and they are very encouraging and patient. The instruction is top notch, and the classes provide a learning environment that is both comfortable and challenging. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for instruction in the performing arts.

My daughter takes voice and piano lessons with Ms. Carolyn and Musical Theatre with Ms. Mary. She is 8 years old and quite dramatic. Her teachers are great with her high energy. Her classes keep her engaged and she has made some great friends. In just three months my daughter has learned to read music, understand tone and timing and is ready to shuffle ball change at anywhere.

LAAPA has been a pivotal monument in my chIldrens development. They havent attended long, but I already see positive changes in them from attending. Im very pleased with what they offer my girls and I am always greeted so pleasantly by all of the staff there.
